Warning and dismissing the student from the specialty or the university (Bachelor Degree)

  1. Each student receive an accumulative average less than (60%) will receive a warning.
  2. the student who received an academic warning must raise his accumulative average to (60%) and above to cancel the effectiveness of the warning in a period do not exceed more than one academic year from the date of warning.
  3. The student who fails to raise his accumulative average to (60%) from his specialty after passing of one study year , and excluded from that the student who completed successfully (99) credit hours according to the study plan(33 subjects).
  4. The university has the right to award the dismissed student from the specialty one chance of one academic year as a maximum if he wishes to stay in his specialty according to the following conditions:
    1. Must complete successfully (60) credit hours according to the study plan (20 subject).
    2. His accumulative average must not less than( 58%)
    3. The failing subject must not exceed than three subject in the study year.
    4. If the student failed to raise his accumulative average to the required limit, he will be considered dismissed from the university and excluded from that the student who successfully completed (99) credit hours according to the study plan.
    5. The student resumes to his normal study if he raised his accumulative average to the required limit.
    6. Must put the above into consideration , the study period in the university must not exceed it’s high limit.
  5. The student who exceeds the permitted period limit for study without achieving the graduation requirements will be dismissed.
  6. It is not permitted to re-accept the dismissed student academically to the specialty that he was previously dismissed.

Postponing the study

  1. The student can submit a claim to postpone his study prior to the beginning of the academic year that he wishes to postpone his study in it including the reasons and justification for the postpone in order to convince the concerned committee to get it’s approval for that.
  2. it is not permitted to postpone the study of the new student or the transferred one unless one year is passed for his joining the specialty.
  3. The postpone period will not be computed from the permitted period to got the bachelor degree.

Disconnecting the study

  1. If the study started and the student was not registered in that year , he will be considered disconnected from study and his registration in the university is considered cancelled unless he submitted a justification accepted by the concerned committee.
  2. if the student disconnected for a period that exceed one year , his registration in the university is considered cancelled , unless the university council agreed to register him again or if he submitted an overpower justification accepted by the council in a period do not exceed the maximum period for postponing.
  3. The period of disconnection with a justification will be computed with the maximum limit permitted for postponing the study.

Transfer

It is permitted to transfer the student to American University in case there is a vacancy and according to the following conditions:

  1. The average of the student in the General Secondary study certificate or equivalent must be accepted in the college or the specialty that he moved in it in American University during the year that he got the general secondary study certificate or it’s equivalent or the year of his registration in American University
  2. Must be transferred from a university or college or institution recognized by American University
  3. The student must successfully complete not less than (33) credit hours from the university he is transferring from it (Full University year).
  4. It is conditioned that the transferred students previous study must be according to the regular system.
  5. A committee must be formed called ( Students transfer committee ) chaired by the university president or his representatives and the membership of both the dean of the college the student transferred to it and the manager of acceptance and registration to check in the transfer requests to American University from other universities according to the established conditions and according to the procedures specified by the committee, and the committee will authorize the credit hours or the years studied by the student in his university according to the study plan in American University that he must followed in the section that he is intended to join and after getting the opinion of the concerned section.
  6. If the student was accepted in the first or the second year in American University and he studied successfully subjects in other university or other college or institute recognized by American University so the student transfer committee can authorizes and compute these subjects that he studied after getting the opinion of the concerned section.
  7. The transfer request must be submitted to the acceptance and registration section and the transferred committed must submit it’s decision about these requests.
  8. It is allowed to transfer the student from one specialty to another in the university according to the following conditions:
    1. Must have a vacant in the specialty intended to transfer in it
    2. His grades in the general secondary or equivalent must be accepted in the specialty that he wishes to transfer to it in the year that he obtained his secondary certificate or the year that he wishes to transfer in it based upon his acceptance.
    3. It is permitted to transfer the student from a specialty of higher average to a specialty of lower average.
  • When moving the student to another specialty, the subjects that he selects will be computed for him from the subjects that he studied in the specialty transferred from it and must be within the study plan to the transferred specialty and the grades of these subjects will be considered in his accumulative average computation.
  • The transfer request must be directed to the acceptance and registration section and must be decided by the transferred committee.
  • The transfer inside the university must be just one time.

General Rules

  • If the possibility of graduating a student depend on one subject and that subject was not included in his graduation year or was included and contradict with another subject necessary for his graduation, the dean after consulting the section chief of the student studied in it must agree that the student study another subjects in lieu of that subject , but must inform the acceptance and registration section form that.
  • The concerned section chief and the acceptance and registration section are in charge of the academic track for the registered student in the section and make sure that he is fulfilling the graduation requirements and inform him periodically.
  • It is not permitted to the student to register in more than one specialty in the university either in the same level or in different levels.
  • The Bachelor degree is awarded upon eligibility at the end of each year and the certificate carries the date of awarding the degree to the student.
  • The University conduct an annual graduation and the university or it’s representative decides the date and place of graduation ceremony and according to the circumstances in the student’s country.
  • The university council decides on matters that have no text in these instructions or in the issues raised about it’s implementation.
  • The university declares these instructions and regulations and any other regulations as well as any amendments that may occur on the bulletin board in the university buildings or in a special instruction pamphlets such as the university directory distributed to the students.
  • It is not permitted to any students to have justification that he has no information or do not know these instructions or he was not informed about the pamphlets issued by the university or published on the bulletin board or others
  • The University President or his representative , the college deans , the acceptance and registration manager are in charge of implementing these instruction each one in his specialty.
